Salem Days 2025 - Cardboard Boat Regatta

Cardboard Boat Regatta - Tuesday August 5, 2025
Beach at Knoll Park - 150 W 300 S
Boat Building: 4 PM
Race Begins: 6 PM

Notice: Limit of 60 boats.
Entry Fee $20.00 per boat/team.

Fun for the whole family. Boats made entirely of cardboard and duct tape.
Each team is supplied corrugated cardboard, and 3 rolls of duct tape.
Bring life jackets, paddles, utility knives, marking pens to decorate boats, costumes--whatever.

4:00 pm -  Teams check in and receive their supplies, then start building their boats. 
5:30 pm -  Freestyle ONLY - Check in.
6:00 pm - Construction period ends and races begin. Spectators are welcome to set up chairs in the designated areas to watch the races.

4 Categories:
Youth team (two riders) 12 and under
Adult team (two riders) 13 and older
Family team (two riders) one adult (13+), one youth (-12)
Freestyle: (Boats made prior to regatta– not limited on amount of cardboard, duct tape or construction time) One or two riders, Duct tape and cardboard only, no other structural materials. Decorative materials and costumes are OK. Participants are welcome to pick up the standard supplies prior to race day, if they choose.

Contact Randon or Shellie for pickup. Freestyle Check in is 5:30 pm. 
Each participant is responsible to provide their own utility knives for cutting, life vests, paddles, and markers/spray paint for decoration.
You will receive your boat number on the day of the race. 
Boat numbers must be written or painted in a visible place on the boat prior to race times.
