2025 Speaker: Khosrow Semnani is a successful entrepreneur who possesses a combined background in science and business. With a career that spans more than 40 years, he has held posts as a research scientist and plant engineer, as well as chief executive officer of an investment management firm and founder and president of a charitable foundation.
Khosrow Semnani began his career working for a number of companies in Salt Lake City. He served as a Research Scientist for the Kennecott Copper Corporation before transitioning to a position as Plant Engineer for Thatcher Chemical Company, where he was responsible for manufacturing and packaging industrial chemicals. Mr. Semnani next went to work as a Manager for Sperry Univac, where he oversaw the production of circuit boards for mainframe computers.
In 1981, Mr. Semnani founded SK Hart Management, a company focused on international investments in farming and real estate. In 1988, he designed, developed, and licensed the first commercial nuclear-waste-disposal-and-processing facility of its kind in the United States. The facility grew to become the largest in the country, servicing the commercial nuclear industry, the Department of Energy, the Department of Defense, and the Environmental Protection Agency.
Khosrow Semnani earned his Bachelor of Science with a dual major in Physics and Chemistry from Westminster College in Salt Lake City. He went on to earn his Master of Engineering Administration from the University of Utah.
Mr. Semnani supports several charitable organizations, including OneKind Act a Day, Oxfam, the World Food Program, UNICEF, and the Maliheh Free Clinic in Salt Lake City, a facility initially funded by the Semnani Family Foundation. In his spare time, Mr. Semnani enjoys hiking, reading, and traveling, as well as spearheading philanthropic activities. He resides in Salt Lake City with his wife, Ghazaleh, and their three children.
